George Allen has been a leader in the balancing/vibration-mitigation industry for more than two decades, most recently running Vibration Solutions, Inc., a premiere balancing training and consulting company. Allen joined Moscow Mills in 2010 as part of the company’s strategy to bring together balance-tooling expertise with high-performance manufacturing capabilities.

Allen began his career working for Schenck Corporation, one of the world’s leading balancing equipment and tooling companies. During a 15-year career at Schenck, Allen served as a test-floor engineer and supervisor, a field-service engineer, applications engineer, project engineer and sales engineer. He worked for two years setting up engine-test systems for a General Motors plant.

He joined Solvay Chemicals in 1985, working as sales and marketing manager servicing key accounts such as Pemex, British Petroleum, Mobil and Consolidated Natural Gas.

In 1993, he founded his own consulting firm specializing in balancing, vibration measuring, vibration-monitoring equipment and predictive-maintenance hardware and software. In addition to providing products and consulting services, Allen taught seminars and set up training programs in balancing and vibration mitigation for his clients.

In 2003, he was recruited by Schenck to run their vibration Diagnostics and Balancing Services unit in Deer Park, NY. He opened, equipped and staffed five satellite facilities throughout the United States and developed and implemented the sales and marketing programs for the unit. Clients included top aerospace, equipment and energy companies, including Pratt and Whitney, Rolls-Royce, Caterpillar and Hamilton Sundstrand.

In 2006, he re-opened his own consultancy, Vibration Solutions, focusing again on balancing and vibration mitigation for select clients in the aerospace and energy industry. Vibration Solutions was acquired in 2010 by Moscow-Mills Manufacturing and renamed Vibration Solutions North.

Allen earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He went on to earn professional certifications from the SAE, the Vibration Institute and the Chemical Industry Association. Allen holds the position of co-chair for the EG1-A SAE balancing committee. He has published numerous articles on balancing and vibration-mitigation theory and practice. He is recognized in “Who’s Who” in American industry as an expert in balancing. Allen has been named on several patents for Solvay Chemicals and Vibration Solutions North.
